Press release
The Modern Democratic Party will appeal to the Supreme Court of Justice against the illegal and politically motivated decision of the Chisinau Court of Appeal: “We are determined to win, and there is no way they can stop us.”
The string of illegal decisions continues, after the Court of Appeal today decided to uphold the absurd and completely unfounded decision of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) not to register the Modern Democratic Party of Moldova (PDMM) for the parliamentary elections on September 28.
Without a doubt, this decision is politically motivated and illegal, issued under the directive of the ruling party. The purpose is obvious: PAS is playing all its cards to prevent PDMM from entering Parliament. Their fear is immense, which is why they are using—and are ready to use—any means to eliminate their political opponents.
There is no plausible reason to exclude PDMM from the electoral process. Both the CEC’s decision and the Public Services Agency’s notification to limit PDMM’s electoral rights—without any legal justification and in the absence of any final rulings—as well as the abuses by the Information and Security Service, all originate from a single command center directed by PAS. All these institutions have blatantly and clearly overstepped their authority, trampling on the laws and Constitution of the Republic of Moldova.
We, however, will not stop. We have set out determined to win, and there is no way they can stop us. Our lawyers are already preparing all the necessary documents to appeal the Court of Appeal’s decision. We continue to stay close to the people and will not take a single step back.
