Over 46,000 tons of agricultural goods transported by rail in August

Over 46,000 tons of cereals and oilseeds were transported by rail in August. According to the data published by the Moldovan Railway, 28,529 tons were exported, and 18,019 tons transited the territory of the Republic of Moldova, reports IPN.

Within the exports, the largest quantity was attributed to rapeseed – 10,789 tons. Also, 7,526 tons of oilseed crops, 7,428 tons of wheat, and 2,786 tons of peas were transported.

On the other hand, 6,031 tons of barley were transited on the Basarabeasca-Reni route. Another 5,773 tons of lentils and 1,559 tons of rapeseed were transported on the Basarabeasca-Galati route. At the same time, 3,186 tons of wheat were transported on the Moghilev-Podolsk-Ungheni route, and on the Basarabeasca-Reni route – 2,470 tons of sunflower oil.

The Moldovan Railway announced in August that local farmers and companies in the country have priority in grain transportation. According to the institution, Ukrainian goods in transit are transported with their own wagons and do not affect the transport capacity available for Moldovan producers.

The Central Electoral Commission has approved the schedule for organizing and conducting elections for the position of Governor of Gagauzia, set for November 15, reports IPN.

According to the document, the electoral period will begin on September 3rd. The schedule establishes the main actions required for the organization of the vote, the deadlines for completion, and the responsibilities of the subjects involved in the electoral process.

The Central Electoral Council of Gagauzia is to be established by September 16th. Individuals who wish to run for the position of governor will be able to submit their documents for registration as an electoral competitor no later than October 6th. The electoral campaign will begin on October 16th, one month before the election day.

The Central Electoral Commission has approved on September 1 a resolution whereby the elections for the position of the Governor of Gagauzia will take place on November 15, the same day as the vote for the Popular Assembly. The decision was made after the legislative body in Comrat repeatedly failed to set the election date for the governor’s position due to lack of quorum.
