Over 36 thousand educators guide 460 thousand children and students in Moldova

The academic year 2024-2025 has gathered over 460 thousand children and students in the schools and kindergartens of the Republic of Moldova, along with more than 36 thousand teaching staff. “Behind these numbers are thousands of stories: a teacher who inspires, a child who takes the first step towards his dream, a community that becomes stronger through education,” conveyed on Sunday the Minister of Education, Dan Perciun, on the occasion of World Education Day and Teacher’s Day, reports IPN.

According to the minister, education is not just a learning process, but a true mission. “Teachers are the ones who ignite curiosity, cultivate critical thinking, and pass on the values that define us as a society – respect, solidarity, responsibility. They are the compass that guides the younger generations in an increasingly complicated world,” mentioned Dan Perciun.

The Minister wished the teaching staff “health, the power of inspiration, and the joy of seeing, day by day, how your work comes to life in the eyes and achievements of the children.”

Every year, on October 5th, the international community marks World Education Day, established by UNESCO in 1994, to highlight the role of teachers in ensuring quality education and in the development of society.

In the Republic of Moldova, this day is also celebrated as Teacher’s Day, as a sign of appreciation for the work and dedication of the teaching staff.

The National Agency for Energy Regulation will examine on Friday the request from Energocom regarding the increase in natural gas prices. The subject was included on the agenda of the ANRE meeting on July 24, reports IPN.

Energocom has requested an increase in the regulated price for consumers connected to low-pressure distribution networks from 13.35 lei to 19.37 lei per cubic meter, excluding VAT.

The request is motivated by the increase in natural gas procurement costs, against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the volatility of international markets. According to Energocom, these have generated an estimated tariff deficit of around 106 million lei.
