Olga Tabirta, former member of the Action and Solidarity Party, claims that she was illegally expelled from the party. She asserts that the decision was made without clear explanations and in violation of some fundamental rights, including the right to reply.
In a press conference at IPN, the former member of the PAS territorial organization Ciocana stated that she was informed of her exclusion from the party through an email message sent by the party’s Permanent Bureau.
Olga Tabirta mentioned that a party statute article was invoked in the notification, which stipulates the expulsion of members for “flagrant violation of the statutory and political standards assumed by PAS members”. According to her, the provision allows the expulsion of any member, regardless of their affiliation to a local, territorial or municipal organization.
“There are no concrete details about what happened or what the causes were. It’s simply a matter of incompatibility between my public profile and the status of a PAS member. The fact that I openly discussed a violation or a corruption scheme of a state official is not a blatant violation that brings a negative image to the party”, declared Olga Tabirta.
According to her, the decision to exclude was made without offering her the right to reply, a fact that contravenes the PAS statute. Olga Tabirta also said that initiating a disciplinary procedure implies appointing a responsible person or a working group to hear the targeted member and clarify the circumstances of the case.
Contacted by IPN for a reaction, the spokesperson for PAS, Adriana Vlas, stated that Olga Tabirta was expelled from the party for “active involvement in responsible positions in a so-called investment platform over which there are several reasonable suspicions of fraud”.
