The President of Romania, Nicusor Dan, supports the statement that the parliamentary elections in the fall in the Republic of Moldova are essential for the country’s progress. During his first official visit to the Republic of Moldova, the leader from Cotroceni declared that he wishes for the pro-European direction to win in Chisinau, as reported by IPN.
After President Maia Sandu and the PAS supported him in the second round of the Romanian presidential elections, Nicusor Dan was asked whether he would reciprocate in the parliamentary elections on September 28. “Obviously, as President of Romania, interested in the Republic of Moldova, interested in the security of the region we live in, including the security of Romania, I really want the pro-Western, pro-European direction to win in the Republic of Moldova. I am very optimistic”, mentioned the leader from Cotroceni at the press conference held with Maia Sandu at the Presidency.
In his opinion, as they have done several times in recent times, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova will have the necessary civic spirit to maintain the European direction that Moldova has built for itself.
In this sense, President Maia Sandu declared that the Republic of Moldova needs support, including from Romania, to reject the hybrid attacks that she believes the state will face in the period leading up to the parliamentary elections.
“We have received support in the previous elections and we are confident that we will also face challenges now. We know that there is a European agency in Bucharest that specializes in this issue. I wish for us to have a closer collaboration in fighting against misinformation, propaganda, because it is a problem for both the Republic of Moldova and Romania”, concluded Maia Sandu.
