The Ministry of Health urges medical and sanitary institutions that use water from the Dniester River to test alternative water supply systems and identify possibilities for creating critical reserves, in order to ensure the continuity of essential health services. A circular in this regard has been issued in the context of information regarding possible water pollution and supply issues, reports IPN.
The Ministry of Health clarifies that it is in constant contact with the National Crisis Management Center and the Ministry of Environment. According to the authorities, currently, the risk of disruption in the supply of drinking water is reduced, with continuous monitoring.
“We specify that the competent authorities continue to monitor the situation, and laboratory analyses for evaluating the situation are underway”, is stated in a press release from the institution.
Recently, oil substance spots have been observed on the Nistru river. The responsible institutions have initiated analyses and interventions to limit the spread of the pollutant, installing capture systems for the substances on certain sections of the river. The authorities have estimated a leakage of approximately 1.5 tons of oil product, however, preliminary data indicate that the main parameters of the water, such as oxygenation, pH and conductivity, remain within normal limits.
