Moldovan military personnel are participating in the multinational exercise “Strong Griffin 2026” in Lithuania

A group of soldiers from the National Army are participating in the multinational exercise “Strong Griffin 2026”, taking place in Lithuania until September 14, reports IPN.

According to the Ministry of Defense, Moldovan military personnel are training alongside contingents from several participating countries and are involved in activities focused on the planning and implementation of procedures specific to international exercises.

At the “Strong Griffin 2026”, approximately 2,500 soldiers from Lithuania, the United States of America, Poland, the Netherlands, France, Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, and Portugal are participating. The exercise also involves about 500 units of military equipment.

The authorities specify that the participation of Moldovan military personnel is carried out in accordance with the National Army’s training plan for the year 2026.



The expansion works of the Mircea cel Batran Boulevard in Chiainau have begun. The project, amounting to 22.5 million euros, will be carried out by a company from Kazakhstan in partnership with local firms, and will be supervised by a company from Romania. The details of the works were presented by the general mayor, Ion Ceban, during the launch event, reports IPN.

The mayor of the capital described the commencement of the works as a historic moment for the municipality of Chisinau. According to him, the project represents the result of a long period of work and will contribute to the expansion of the capital towards the outskirts.

Mircea the Elder Boulevard is set to be expanded on the section between Professor Ion Dumeniuc and Bucovinei streets, with the necessary infrastructure being arranged. The project provides for three traffic lanes per direction, bicycle lanes, the expansion of the electrical network necessary for trolleybus traffic, including the arrangement of public transport stations and a roundabout.

The works are expected to be completed within 24 months. The execution contract was awarded following an international tender.
