Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will make a visit to Strasbourg on November 14, where he will preside over the meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, in the context of the Republic of Moldova taking over the Presidency of the Committee, reports IPN.
According to the MAE, the Republic of Moldova will hold the presidency of the Committee of Ministers from November 14, 2025 to May 15, 2026. During the visit, Minister Mihai Popsoi will present the priorities of the mandate, focused on promoting democracy, the rule of law and cooperation among member states.
Also, the official will participate in the flag-raising ceremony of the Republic of Moldova in Place de la République and at the inauguration of the tram inscribed with the logo of the Presidency.
The Committee of Ministers represents the main decision-making body of the Council of Europe, responsible for implementing the organization’s objectives. Member states are represented by foreign affairs ministers and permanent representatives to the Council of Europe.
The Presidency of the Committee of Ministers is exercised by rotation and in alphabetical order, for a period of six months. This is the second time the Republic of Moldova holds this responsibility, the first Presidency having been exercised in 2003.
