Maia Sandu has withdrawn, by presidential decree, the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova in the case of nine people who have held and currently hold positions in the unconstitutional entities on the left bank of the Dniester, reports IPN.
The list includes Ruslan Mova, the former so-called Minister of Internal Affairs from Tiraspol, and Vladislav Juc, the former so-called Deputy Minister of Justice in the Transnistrian region, the so-called deputies Igor Bigu, Vadim Cravciuc, Victor Guzun and Vadim Levitchii. Two of those who lost their citizenship of the Republic of Moldova fought against Chisinau in the Nistru war of 1992.
The procedure for revoking citizenship was initiated by the Public Services Agency, at the notification of the Information and Security Service, based on the finding of a legal basis for revoking Moldovan citizenship – committing particularly serious acts that harm the interests of the Republic of Moldova.
“These acts were committed in the interest of a foreign state that violates the neutrality of the state and wages a war of aggression against Ukraine. The revocation of citizenship is a measure provided by law, applied in cases where the fundamental interests of the Republic of Moldova are affected,” explained the presidential adviser for national security, Stanislav Secrieru.
The Presidency emphasizes that respect for sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the state are fundamental principles, which cannot be violated. The authorities will continue to act firmly, in strict accordance with the law, for the protection of the constitutional order and the national interest.
