The Republic of Moldova’s cooperation with NATO is held under the Partnership for Peace, with the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) being the main instrument of this cooperation. One of the key elements of this partnership is related to the importance of all the involved players obeying the principle of constitutional neutrality of Moldova, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) has said after British foreign secretary Liz Truss said the UK wants Moldova to be supplied with modern weaponry, IPN reports.

“As it is known in the public sphere as well, our country has cooperation relations in security and defense with a number of partners. The goal of this dialogue is to take part in the efforts to maintain international peace and security and to ensure the necessary defense capacities of the armed forces so as to counteract potential security risks. These actions form part of the objectives to promote our national interests,” said the spokesman for MAEIE Daniel Vodă. He noted that the Moldovan authorities pursue a transparent agenda that is known by the citizens of the country and by its partners.

British Foreign Minister Liz Truss said that the UK had begun discussions with its international allies about sending modern weaponry to Moldova to protect it from Russia. She noted she wants to see the country “equipped to NATO standard.”
