Russia will continue its military actions in Ukraine in order to fulfill its objectives, despite the deadline given by US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the war. The statement was made by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov, quoted by the Russian news agency TASS.
The American leader announced on Monday that he is shortening the deadline given to Russia to end the invasion of Ukraine. Trump clarified that he is dissatisfied with Putin, therefore the initial period set of 50 days will be reduced by 10-12 days, reports IPN.
If the condition is not met, then the customs tariffs applied by the US to Russia’s trading partners will be increased by approximately 100%, Trump reiterated.
In response, Dmitri Peskov clarified that the Kremlin administration has taken note of “Trump’s statement” and “his lack of interest in contact”. Moreover, the official from Moscow mentioned that Russia is interested in the peaceful resolution of the conflict.
The deadline of 50 days to stop the war in Ukraine was set on July 14.
