The Foreign Ministers of Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine had a trilateral meeting today in Chernivtsi. During the event, the officials adopted a joint declaration confirming the significant progress made so far and highlighting the important potential of this coordination format, reports IPN.
The discussions focused on economic cooperation, European integration, energy security, infrastructure and modernization of border crossing points, combating disinformation and hybrid threats, as well as the security situation in the region, announces the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chisinau.
Romania has reaffirmed its firm and consistent support for the accession path of Moldova and Ukraine to the European Union.
“The accession of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to the European Union will substantially contribute to the construction of a united, peaceful, and secure Europe. And peace for Ukraine means peace for the Republic of Moldova,” mentioned Minister Mihai Popșoi.
This time, in addition to the three countries, the discussion was joined online by the foreign ministers of Poland and Lithuania, Radosław Sikorski and Kęstutis Budrys.
During the discussion, topics related to common threats in the Black Sea and Baltic Sea regions were addressed, whose counteraction requires close cooperation.
“Through our active coordination, we also contribute to ensuring the stability and security of the Black Sea region and set a standard in our neighborhood relations,” declared the Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Toiu.
