The Republic of Moldova has a clear future in the European Union, and Italy reaffirms its full support for this path, based on reforms, resilience, and alignment with European values. This statement belongs to the Italian Ambassador to Chisinau, Giuseppe Maria Perricone, and was made on the occasion of Europe Day, reports IPN.
The Ambassador emphasized that the relations between Moldova and Italy have constantly evolved in recent years, against the backdrop of an active political dialogue and extensive cooperation in economic and social fields. He highlighted the impact of Italian investments on the local economy and on creating opportunities for citizens.
“Italy firmly supports the European path of the Republic of Moldova and remains a reliable partner in this process,” mentioned Giuseppe Maria Perricone. The diplomat added that reforms are essential for strengthening institutions and aligning with European Union standards.
The official also highlighted the role of the Moldovan community in Italy, which he described as an important bridge between the two states. He said that the diaspora contributes to the strengthening of bilateral relations through social and economic involvement.
At the same time, the ambassador condemned Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, which he described as a threat to European security. “In the face of brutality, we have responded and continue to respond through unity – a unity to which the Republic of Moldova has significantly contributed,” the diplomat stated.
