IT equipment worth almost US$1m to be distributed to national hospitals

The vaccination monitoring and reporting system will be strengthened. The WHO and UNICEF, with the support of USAID, donated 1,200 computers to the total value of almost US$1 million to the Ministry of Health. Minister Ala Nemerenco said a large part of this equipment will be directed to family doctors in rural areas and to specialists of the National Public Health Agency (NPHA), IPN reports.

“These computers will be distributed to hospitals in the country for optimizing work. We developed and approved in the Government the use of the information system concerning communicable diseases. All these donations will facilitate supervision of contagious and dangerous diseases. The experience gained during the pandemic taught us many lessons. This equipment will go primarily to rural areas and to the NPHA,” stated Ala Nemerenco.

John Riordan, Acting Head of USAID Mission in Moldova, said that today’s donation fulfills USAID’s wish to contribute to strengthening population immunization capacities and to lend a hand to the authorities in achieving the objective to connect the national health system to a common mechanism.

“USAID is proud to have been able to offer over US$7.5 million to help the Republic of Moldova in the context of the pandemic crisis. Also, USAID cooperated with the WHO to improve the capacities to test and respond to COVID-19. Our assistance helped the employees to correctly look after patients, including together with the appearance of the vaccine. The medical assistants will be able to immediately register the information about vaccination,” stated John Riordan.

Maha Damaj, UNICEF Moldova Representative, expressed her confidence that this donation will reduce the pressure experienced by the health system of the Republic of Moldova. “We saw that in a crisis situation, the combination of forces is important. Since the start of the pandemic, we have stood by the Ministry of Health, from training up to equipment. This donation will help the health system, including the ordinary interventions for children in the Republic of Moldova,” she stated.

ANRE will examine the request for a gas price increase on Friday

The National Agency for Energy Regulation will examine on Friday the request from Energocom regarding the increase in natural gas prices. The subject was included on the agenda of the ANRE meeting on July 24, reports IPN.

Energocom has requested an increase in the regulated price for consumers connected to low-pressure distribution networks from 13.35 lei to 19.37 lei per cubic meter, excluding VAT.

The request is motivated by the increase in natural gas procurement costs, against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the volatility of international markets. According to Energocom, these have generated an estimated tariff deficit of around 106 million lei.
