Following the Russian attacks in the last 24 hours on critical infrastructure, 1,676 residential blocks in Kiev have been left without thermal energy. The information was conveyed by the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitalii Kliciko, who specified that intervention teams are still working to restore the supply of thermal agent and electricity to the population, reports IPN.

In circumstances where numerous residents have been left without utilities, and temperatures have dropped below freezing point, the Government in Kiev has urged the population to resort to “Resistance Points”, opened nationwide, including 1,300 in Kiev. The measure involves setting up special tents, where affected individuals can receive assistance during periods of severe weather.

The Russian army launched massive attacks on critical infrastructure objects on Saturday night. As a result, Ukrainian authorities announced that almost 6 thousand buildings in Kiev were left without thermal energy. Additionally, the water supply infrastructure was temporarily affected, the damage being subsequently repaired.

At the same time, the Ukrainian state operator of the electric power network, Ukrenergo, announced power outages in several regions of the country, including Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Kharkiv, and Zhytomyr.

Ukraine’s critical infrastructure has been targeted by attacks since the beginning of the year, with significant impact on the population. On January 9, approximately 6 thousand buildings in Kiev were left without heating and water supply, but the authorities were subsequently able to rectify the damages.
