Update: Two people on board the ship were found deceased, announces the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Romania. Also, 11 crew members were rescued after its sinking in the Black Sea. The injured people were taken over by a helicopter of the General Aviation Inspectorate for emergency medical assistance. The search and rescue operation continues, with the participation of the Coast Guard vessels.

Initial news: A cargo ship loaded with grains was hit by a drone in the Black Sea, near the Romanian coasts. The Romanian Naval Authority announces that 13 crew members are missing, and the ship’s commander was injured. A search and rescue operation is underway, reports IPN.

According to the Romanian press, the incident occurred about 20 nautical miles off the Romanian coast and about nine nautical miles southeast of the Pescarus Platform. The “Royad Mammadov” ship had left the Ukrainian port of Ismail and was heading towards a port in Italy.

The Maritime Coordination Center in Constanta has requested the intervention of the Romanian Agency for Human Life Saving at Sea. Search and rescue ships have been dispatched to the area, as well as a Coast Guard vessel.

According to preliminary information, a fire broke out on board the ship after the impact.

The best homemade wine producers were awarded at the XXIVth edition of the “Golden Poloboc” competition. This year’s national stage gathered 110 wines, selected from those presented by over 500 participants. The awards were given during the National Wine Day, organized in the Great National Assembly Square, reports IPN.

In the category “Best White Wine – Vitis Vinifera”, two winners were designated: Vasile Nicli from Congaz, for Pinot Gris, and Sergiu Spac from Peticeni, Calarasi district, for Feteasca Regala. The prize for the best white wine from hybrid and Vitis labrusca varieties was awarded to Valeriu Suruceanu from Cojusna, for a wine made from Niagara and Cuderca.

In the category of rosé wines, the winner was Temofei Pogor from Vasieni, Ialoveni district, for his Busuioaca. For red wines, the award went to Ion Sarandi from Avdarma, Comrat, for his Rară Neagră, while in the hybrid and Vitis labrusca varieties, the prize was given to Grigore Sîrtmaci from Vulcanesti, for his Zaibel. The title for the best matured red wine was awarded to Tudor Septelici from Ungheni, for his Rara Neagra.

In the category of liqueur wines, the award for the best white liqueur wine was given to Iurie Belioglo from Cazaclia, for Muscat Ottonel, while the one for red liqueur wine was awarded to Gheorghe Pojoga from Ciuciuleni, Hancesti district, for Cabernet.

The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sergiu Harea, stated that over 10,500 entries have been evaluated in the 24 editions of the contest, and 220 winners have been designated.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Eugeniu Osmochescu, emphasized that homemade wine is part of the traditions of the Republic of Moldova and that these must be preserved and promoted.

The “Golden Flask” competition is organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova and promotes homemade wine producers and native viticultural traditions.
