Starting May 1, the salaries of employees of the State Hydrometeorological Service are to increase by 9%. The increase was provided for in an amendment to the draft state budget for the current year, approved in December 2024, IPN reports.

Last year, the average salary of a meteorologist in the State Hydrometeorological Service was 8743 lei. Since January 1, the reference value of the salary has increased by 5%, the same as for other civil servants. At the same time, following a protest by SHS employees at the end of last year, the authorities approved a 9% pay rise from May 1.

The budgetary impact of the salary increases is estimated at 325 thousand lei per month.
