Farmers can access grants for investments in the livestock sector – cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and poultry farming. The vegetable, niche horticultural crops, and direct processing of agricultural products sectors are also eligible. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry has launched the fifth call for grants under the AGGRI Project.

The support aims at modernizing agricultural units, acquiring animals, equipping with modern technologies, and implementing energy efficiency solutions, including renewable energy, reports IPN.

The call provides support for strengthening biosecurity in pig and poultry farms, as well as for modernizing laying hen farms, in accordance with welfare and food safety standards. Niche horticultural crops are also targeted – from currants, blueberries and raspberries to lavender, rosemary or sea buckthorn – including nurseries for the production of these species.

Applications can be submitted during the period of March 2 – May 29. The maximum value of a grant can reach up to 1 million dollars, without exceeding 50% of the eligible investment. For niche horticultural crops, the ceiling is 70 thousand dollars per beneficiary, and for cooperatives – up to 300 thousand dollars.

To obtain funding, applicants must be registered and operate within the territory controlled by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova, with the exception of the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti. Also, they must legally own the assets targeted for investment, present a viable business plan, and ensure a personal contribution of at least 50% of the project’s value.
