Civil society organizations in the Republic of Moldova will support parents with young children who are facing difficulties in returning to the labor market. As part of a project funded by the European Union, 24 NGOs have received grants of up to 60 thousand euros each. The funds will be used to create or expand local early care services, including nurseries and other community services for children aged between 4 months and 3 years, reports IPN.

This is about the project “Increased employment opportunities at the local level and access to nurseries for parents in vulnerable situations”, implemented by the Soros Foundation Moldova, together with Keystone Moldova and Expert-Grup.

The Executive Director of the Soros Foundation Moldova, Daniela Vidaicu, stated that through this initiative, parents in vulnerable situations are being supported, so that they can enter and remain in the labor market. “At the same time, we support more equitable communities and a development path for the Republic of Moldova based on the principles of an open society,” added Daniela Vidaicu.

The project implementers emphasize that, for many parents, the lack of a safe place to leave their child represents an obstacle to employment, and the new services aim to reduce this problem and offer more autonomy to families.
