The former vice-president of the Hancesti district, Dumitru Vartic, denies allegations that he had exercised violence against his wife, which allegedly led her to commit suicide. He asserts that he trusts the competent authorities will objectively examine all the circumstances of the case and will establish the truth based on the evidence and actual facts, reports IPN.

Dumitru Vartic claims that his wife is grappling with serious health issues and depressive states, including a suicide attempt in November 2025. According to him, medical interventions were not enough to prevent the tragedy.

“In my opinion, her condition requires specialized medical care, monitoring, and appropriate treatment, including hospitalization when the risk to her own life becomes evident”, is stated in a message posted on Dumitru Vartic’s social media networks.

The former vice-president of Hancesti district has the status of a suspect in one of the criminal cases opened to investigate the death of Ludmila Vartic. The investigation is ongoing and includes the questioning of witnesses, the examination of mobile phones and medical documentation, all of which are aimed at establishing the exact circumstances of the tragedy and determining whether there is any connection between the suicide and possible acts of violence.

The National Agency for Energy Regulation will examine on Friday the request from Energocom regarding the increase in natural gas prices. The subject was included on the agenda of the ANRE meeting on July 24, reports IPN.

Energocom has requested an increase in the regulated price for consumers connected to low-pressure distribution networks from 13.35 lei to 19.37 lei per cubic meter, excluding VAT.

The request is motivated by the increase in natural gas procurement costs, against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the volatility of international markets. According to Energocom, these have generated an estimated tariff deficit of around 106 million lei.
