Discussions in Comrat between the Government and local elected officials from the Gagauzia Territorial Administrative Unit

The communication between the central authorities and the mayors from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia is strengthening. A statement in this regard was made by the Deputy Secretary General of the Government, Alexandru Iacub, after the meeting in Comrat between the executive representatives and the local elected officials from the region. He emphasized that the dialogue will be maintained and expanded through periodic meetings, reports IPN.

The discussions addressed the direction of cooperation, with an emphasis on the economic, social, and cultural development of autonomy, through attracting investments, creating jobs, modernizing infrastructure, supporting education, and protecting cultural identity.

“An opening has appeared and, as I said at the end of the meeting, a very good communication path has been established between the central authorities and the body of mayors. I believe everyone has already expressed their desire for this. We will organize, I believe, such meetings autonomously once every three months, during which we will listen to the mayors about existing problems and their solutions,” Alexandru Iacub specified.

The mayor of Comrat, Serghei Anastasov, mentioned that most of the issues discussed are of a practical and administrative nature, such as infrastructure and public services. He emphasized that, in recent years, the dialogue with the central authorities has improved and that many of the requests of the local authorities have been resolved through cooperation.

In turn, the mayor of Ceadar-Lunga municipality, Anatolii Topal, stated that the discussions focused on issues common to all localities, including ecology, road infrastructure, construction, and deforestation. According to him, all the proposals put forward were taken into consideration, and the central authorities are to provide written responses.

The National Agency for Energy Regulation will examine on Friday the request from Energocom regarding the increase in natural gas prices. The subject was included on the agenda of the ANRE meeting on July 24, reports IPN.

Energocom has requested an increase in the regulated price for consumers connected to low-pressure distribution networks from 13.35 lei to 19.37 lei per cubic meter, excluding VAT.

The request is motivated by the increase in natural gas procurement costs, against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the volatility of international markets. According to Energocom, these have generated an estimated tariff deficit of around 106 million lei.
