DefSecIntel Solutions (EE) and Carfil SA Announce Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Romania’s Counter-UAS Capabilities

Press Release

Bucharest [14 May 2026] — DefSecIntel Solutions, an Estonian defense technology company specializing in integrated Counter-UAS (C-UAS) and affordable automated full kill-chain capability from detection to interception, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Carfil SA, a subsidiary of Romania’s national defense industry company Romarm.

The cooperation aims to strengthen Romania’s ability to respond to evolving aerial threats by combining DefSecIntel’s system integration expertise with Romania’s defence industrial capabilities and regional knowledge.

At the core of the cooperation is DefSecIntel’s ability to integrate radars, RF sensors, EO/IR systems, acoustic sensors, AI-powered C2 and multiple soft- and hard-kill effectors into one operational C-UAS architecture. This enables a full operational chain from detection and tracking to decision support and interception.

DefSecIntel’s systems are already deployed and tested in demanding operational environments, including Ukraine and NATO countries. The company’s flagship multi-layer C-UAS system EIRSHIELD is designed to protect defense sites, border areas and critical infrastructure against hostile drones and other low-altitude aerial threats.

The partnership follows DefSecIntel’s participation in a NATO C-UAS exercise in Romania in April, where its integrated solution demonstrated strong operational performance, including successful demonstrations at Capu Midia.

“During the NATO C-UAS exercise in Romania, we witnessed DefSecIntel’s EIRSHIELD delivering one of the strongest operational performances. The system showed exactly the kind of integrated and practical capability that is needed to counter modern drone threats. This gives us confidence that DefSecIntel is the right partner for developing future cooperation,” said Mircea Petru Tanțău, General Director, Carfil SA.

According to DefSecIntel, the cooperation with Romania is an important step in building stronger regional defense and resilience.

“Romania is a key NATO Ally on the Eastern Flank, and strengthening local C-UAS capabilities is essential in today’s security environment. Our strength is integration — bringing together sensors, C2 and effectors into one working system. Together with our Romanian partner, we see a strong opportunity to build practical, scalable and rapidly deployable capabilities for defense, border security and critical infrastructure protection while enhancing Romania’s existing capabilities,” said Jaanus Tamm, CEO, DefSecIntel Solutions.

The MoU creates a framework for cooperation in areas including:

Integration and deployment of advanced Counter-UAS systems;

Technology transfer and industrial cooperation;

Development of local maintenance and support capabilities;

Joint participation in defense and security projects;

Protection of critical infrastructure, military facilities and border areas against evolving drone threats.

Building strong partnerships between European defense companies increases resilience and strengthens the ability of NATO Allies to respond to novel and rapidly evolving threats. By combining DefSecIntel’s combat-proven integration experience with Romania’s expanding defense industrial base, the cooperation supports the development of stronger, interoperable and operationally relevant C-UAS capabilities in the region.

About DefSecIntel Solutions

Defsecintel Solutions (established in 2018) is one of the leading Estonian defense companies, developing and manufacturing mobile autonomous surveillance systems, unmanned surface vessels, and multi-layer C-UAS systems equipped with various effectors, all featuring AI-powered C2 capabilities. These turn-key solutions are for European border security, coastal surveillance, defense, and critical infrastructure protection. The systems are developed from real battlefield experience in Ukraine to address the pressing challenges in the region and on the EU’s eastern flank — including evolving drone threats, coastal and land border surveillance needs, and rapid response capability.

EIRSHIELD is Defsecintel’s modular, multi-layer C-UAS platform designed to detect, track, classify and neutralize hostile aerial threats in real operational environments. The system integrates radar, RF, EO/IR and acoustic sensors with AI-powered command and control, creating a unified operational picture and enabling faster decision-making from detection to interception.

A key strength of EIRSHIELD is its open integration architecture: it can incorporate different third-party sensors, soft-kill and hard-kill effectors, interceptor drones and electronic warfare capabilities into one coherent system. This allows EIRSHIELD to be adapted for defense, border security and critical infrastructure protection while remaining scalable, upgradeable and operationally relevant as threats evolve.

The Moldovan firefighters stationed in Greece have participated in their first intervention to extinguish a vegetation fire. The mission took place in the town of Souroti in the Thessaloniki region, where Greek authorities requested additional support to extinguish several outbreaks, reports IPN.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the team was mobilized Thursday morning and intervened alongside Greek firefighters to extinguish the fire. The Moldovan rescuers were divided into two teams, they extinguished the hotspots and checked the affected perimeter to prevent their reignition.

Subsequently, the firefighters returned to the operational base, where the fire trucks, equipment, and necessary reserves for potential interventions were checked.

Moldovan firefighters are participating, from July 14 to August 1, in a pre-positioning mission in Greece, organized through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism. The purpose of this mission is to support Greek authorities in managing vegetation and forest fires during the high-risk season.
