The Parliamentary Association Committee Moldova – European Union advocates for the official opening of the accession negotiations for the Republic of Moldova on all clusters, by the end of 2026. The appeal to the Council of the European Union is found in the statement adopted at the XVII-th Meeting of the Committee, held in Brussels, reports IPN.
According to a statement issued by Parliament, the members of the CPA RM-EU underline that Moldova’s accession would contribute to the consolidation of peace, security, stability and prosperity, as well as to democratic resilience in the European space.
The Parliamentary Association Committee highlights the significant progress made by the Republic of Moldova in the accession process, carried out at a record speed, and confirms the efforts of the authorities in implementing reforms and harmonizing national legislation with EU acquis. At the same time, the statement mentions the completion of 24 stages of reform from the EU growth plan, which represents the highest rate of fulfillment of commitments among candidate countries.
The document appreciates and supports the ongoing financial and technical assistance of the European Union, including additional funds allocated for judicial reform: 5 million euros for the expansion of the vetting process of judges and 4 million euros for the e-Justice project, which will accelerate the digitization of the judicial system.
In the section dedicated to the security of the Republic of Moldova, the RM-EU CPA condemns the repeated incursions of Russian drones and missiles into the country’s airspace and calls for the strengthening of cooperation with the EU in the field of air defense.
