Environmental inspectors have imposed fines of over 21 thousand lei after detecting several violations in the Calarasi district. Among these are the undocumented transportation of firewood, the improper use of aquatic basins and the spread of ragweed, reports IPN.

At the entrance to the Temeleuti locality, inspectors stopped a tractor transporting approximately 10 cubic meters of firewood. Both the driver and the forester were penalized for the violation. The total amount of fines imposed in this case was 12,500 lei.

Furthermore, inspectors have checked several aquatic basins in Calarasi and found violations of water resource usage rules. Following the inspections, four reports were drawn up, and the responsible individuals were fined 6,400 lei.

At the same time, four plots of land were found where ragweed was growing within the built-up areas of some localities. For violating the legislation that obliges owners to destroy the invasive plant, fines totaling 2,400 lei were imposed.
