Another ‘drone attack’ reported in Transnistria

A kamikaze drone allegedly hit a military facility near Rybnitsa on Friday, the Transnistrian press reported. The Reintegration Policy Bureau said the competent authorities are analyzing the available information and images, adding however that “the series of provocations in the region are intended to sow panic and continuous tension”.

“Qualified investigations can only be carried out by the legitimate bodies authorized by law, which, however, do not have access to the perimeter in question”, added the Bureau.

The facility allegedly attacked is located about six kilometers from the border with Ukraine. It was reported that the target was a military radar, which only suffered minor damage.

This echoes a similar alleged drone attack on a helicopter at a Tiraspol military base two weeks ago. The Reintegration Policy Bureau later commented that the analyzed footage had visible signs of doctoring, suggesting that Russia was behind. The Bureau added that the Moldovan authorities are expecting further such actions in the Transnistrian region and the Security Zone.

The Republic of Moldova and the German state of Bavaria will create an intergovernmental commission for the development of economic cooperation. The new platform will address projects in economy, agriculture, medicine and modern technologies, including artificial intelligence. This was announced by the Bavarian Prime Minister, Markus Söder, during his first official visit to Moldova, reports IPN.

In a joint press conference with President Maia Sandu, Markus Söder stated that Bavaria has established similar mechanisms with other partners on the path to European integration. According to the official, the new commission will facilitate collaboration between the two parties and will support the economic rapprochement of the Republic of Moldova with the European Union.

The Bavarian Prime Minister reaffirmed his support for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU and appreciated progress in areas such as justice, police, and the rule of law. He stated that Bavaria will continue to support both reforms and economic development. “We believe that Moldova should have a place in the European Union”, declared Markus Söder.

Maia Sandu stated that the establishment of the commission was agreed upon during the discussions in Chisinau and that the authorities aim to transform political relations with Bavaria into investments, jobs and new opportunities for the business environment. According to the president, over half of Moldovan exports to Germany end up in Bavaria, and in 2025 their value increased by over 50%, up to 73 million euros.

The head of state also emphasized that the Republic of Moldova desires an accession process to the European Union based on the merits and results of reforms, without exceptions or preferential treatment.

According to the Presidency, Markus Söder’s visit takes place in the context of strengthening relations with the member states of the European Union and efforts to attract foreign investments.
