Advertising company EpaMedia asks Chisinau City Hall for 66 million euro

The advertising operator EpaMedia is claiming over 66 million euros in damages from Chisinau City Hall. Victor Chironda, municipal councilor of the political party “Dignity and Truth Platform”, writes about this on his Facebook page. The councilor calls on Mayor Ion Ceban and Deputy Mayor Ilie Ceban to urgently convene the Chisinau Municipal Council to present information on this issue, IPN reports.

Victor Chironda claims to have received a notice of arbitration from the advertising company EpaMedia and an informative note issued by the Legal Assistance Department of the City Hall. The reason given in the notice is that the City Hall has failed to fulfill its obligations under a public-private partnership contract concluded in 2017 between the municipality and the advertising operator, which is consequently claiming damages of more than 66 million lei.

The contract provided for the construction of 300 public transport waiting stations, with the advertising company paying for the costs. In turn, the city hall was obliged to provide the investor with locations for 1850 billboards.

According to Victor Chironda, although the company’s approaches to the city hall began in November 2024, the city councilors are not informed about this request for arbitration until April 22, when the deadline for the appointment of an arbitrator from the public authority is set.

The National Agency for Energy Regulation will examine on Friday the request from Energocom regarding the increase in natural gas prices. The subject was included on the agenda of the ANRE meeting on July 24, reports IPN.

Energocom has requested an increase in the regulated price for consumers connected to low-pressure distribution networks from 13.35 lei to 19.37 lei per cubic meter, excluding VAT.

The request is motivated by the increase in natural gas procurement costs, against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the volatility of international markets. According to Energocom, these have generated an estimated tariff deficit of around 106 million lei.
