About unionists’ “unity that makes strength”, volatility of (problem of) Russian gas and mistakes of “Air Moldova” thieves

The European Union should give the EaP member states clear accession prospects. If we remember how the situation was in this part of Europe in 2009, in contrast to 2019, we will see the force of this project. Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova, at least, did all-inclusive reforms and changed extraordinarily. That’s why we want to have more instruments and increased commitment on the part of the EU so as to treat these countries as real partners,” Petras Austrevicius stated in an interview for RFE/RL’s Moldovan Service.

More than 60 tonnes of electrical and electronic waste have been collected this year at the points set up as part of the project “Clean City with Recycled e-Waste” and the campaign launched by “Hai Moldova”. Aurelia Bahnaru, manager of the project “Clean City with Recycled e-Waste”, said there are now 120 collection points in the city, situated inside public, private and academic institutions.

Small deviations with considerable effects

The privatization of “Air Moldovaairline at some of the stages was performed with deviations from the regulations. The state-owned company “Air Moldova” went bankrupt as a result of the defective management of decision makers, founders, administration board and administrators. The lack of objective information following the hampering of audit missions in 2014-2017 resulted in the sale of the only state-run airline.

Not as luscious as it seems

Moldova is the only country that is absent from the talks on the supply of Russian gas via Ukraine. Energy expert Victor Parlicov, former director of the National Agency for Energy Regulation, said he is sure that the contract for the supply of gas between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, which has been heatedly debated in the recent past, will be extended.”We remain optimistic that Russia and Ukraine will reach an agreement about the transportation of gas and we will receive natural gas through the common route,” stated Premier Chicu.

Three can ensure failure of ten

The president of the Save Bessarabia Union (USB) Valeriu Munteanu said there are three parties with unionist views that are considering the possibility of strengthening cooperation and want to work on a common platform. He didn’t explain what this cooperation consists in, but noted that the three parties could ultimately merge as the goal of these parties is to forge unity on the unionist platform.

Official documents issued in the Republic of Moldova and Germany may now be used in each other’s countries with only an apostille, without the need for the legalization procedure. The measure enters into force following the Federal Republic of Germany’s withdrawal of the reservation it made in 2007 when the Republic of Moldova acceded to the Hague Apostille Convention, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the decision was made following steps taken by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his May 18–19 meeting with his German counterpart, Johann David Wadephul.

The ministry emphasizes that the new system will eliminate the need to visit multiple institutions or diplomatic missions to have documents legalized, which will reduce both the time required and the costs incurred by citizens. The simplified procedure will apply to official documents such as birth, marriage, divorce, and death certificates, criminal records, academic diplomas, and diploma supplements.

The Hague Convention on the Apostille entered into force for the Republic of Moldova on March 16, 2007. With its implementation in relations with Germany, the Republic of Moldova will benefit from the same simplified procedure for the recognition of official documents as it does with all 130 states and entities that are parties to the convention.

Maritime schools could be opened in Moldova following the full transposition of relevant European legislation. The statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, who noted that there is growing interest in such programs, including from Ukrainian citizens affected by the war, according to IPN.

Vladimir Bolea stated that the new regulations will allow seaman’s books to be issued based on studies completed in the Republic of Moldova at authorized institutions.

The minister told the press that, at present, no ships are sailing under the flag of the Republic of Moldova, but the authorities are working to transpose European legislation and develop the legal framework necessary for the development of this sector.

According to him, the state and the Naval Agency could generate significant revenue both from ships sailing under the Moldovan flag and from institutions that train seafarers.
