A group suspected of funneling illicit money into Moldova to support certain parties

A group is suspected of having created a scheme for smuggling illicit funds into the country, intended for the illegal support of political parties, initiative groups, and electoral competitors. In this context, the National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA), in conjunction with the Balti City Prosecutor’s Office, is conducting over 70 searches throughout the territory of the Republic of Moldova, including in Chisinau, reports IPN.

The case under investigation concerns suspicions of illegal financing of political formations, and, according to preliminary investigations, there are reasonable suspicions that a group of individuals may have implemented a coordinated criminal plan during the pre-election period, preceding the elections of September 28.

Among the individuals targeted in the case are decision-makers affiliated with various parties, members and sympathizers, who are suspected of involvement in electoral corruption and illegal financing activities.

The criminal investigations are in full swing, reports the CNA, which, in conjunction with the prosecutors, promises to provide details as the investigations progress.
