President Maia Sandu received in Chisinau François Villeroy de Galhau, the governor of the Bank of France, and Gabriel Attal, former prime minister of this country, reports IPN.
The press service of the Presidency clarifies that Gabriel Attal is the current leader of the Renaissance party, a formation founded by President Emmanuel Macron, which holds the largest fraction in the National Assembly of France.
According to a press release, French officials have reaffirmed their support for the strengthening of democratic institutions and for the defense of the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Moldova against external interference.
France is the seventh trading partner of the Republic of Moldova within the European Union, with a bilateral trade volume of 260 million dollars recorded in 2024. Regarding investments, 213 companies with French capital are operating in the Republic of Moldova, the total value of investments being approximately 172.5 million lei.
In March last year, during the working visit of President Maia Sandu to Paris, a Roadmap for economic cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the French Republic for the period 2024-2029 was signed. The document provides for the intensification of trade exchanges, the attraction of mutual investments, the digitization of the public sector, and the implementation of electronic services.
