Yellow warning for atmospheric instability: rain with thunderstorms and squalls

Meteorologists have issued a yellow warning for atmospheric instability for Saturday, valid until 05:00 PM. Short showers accompanied by thunderstorms are forecast, while heavy showers will occur locally, IPN reports.

The Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring Authority says that, locally, heavy showers are expected, with rainfall amounts of between 15 and 25 litres per square metre. These will be accompanied by hail and wind gusts of up to 15–20 metres per second.

In the context of the weather warning, Chisinau City Hall recommends using public transport, while drivers are urged to avoid parking on roadsides, pavements or under trees in order to prevent possible incidents and ensure the swift intervention of specialised services if needed.

At the same time, the municipality says that specialised services are ready to intervene, and in the event of problematic situations caused by weather conditions, citizens are urged to call the Central Municipal Dispatch Service at (022) 22-22-67 and (022) 22-26-04.



Meteorologists have issued a yellow heatwave warning for this weekend. In most parts of the country, the maximum temperatures will reach +34 degrees Celsius, reports IPN.

The warning is valid for the center, south, and east of the country. Several districts in the north are also under the yellow code. The northernmost districts of the country such as Briceni, Ocnita, Edinet, Drochia, Soroca, Glodeni, Rascani, and Donduseni – are not affected by the warning.

According to the Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring, the warning can be updated depending on the evolution of weather phenomena.

During periods of heatwave, authorities recommend people to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours, to consume enough fluids, and to pay increased attention to children, the elderly, and people with chronic conditions.
