Ukraine will officially mark the Romanian Language Day every year, on August 31. The announcement was made by the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, at a press conference held in Bucharest, alongside the president of Romania, Nicsor Dan. Zelensky stated that the decision reflects the good cooperation between the two states, reports IPN.

During the conference, the Ukrainian president also referred to the energy cooperation between the two countries. He stated that Ukraine and Romania intend to develop joint projects, including the construction of two electrical energy interconnectors.

During the visit, several cooperation documents were signed, among which is the strategic partnership agreement between Romania and Ukraine. “The two states have a great economic potential, and this partnership brings mutual benefits for both countries,” declared Volodymyr Zelensky.

The discussions also addressed the joint exploitation of gases, their storage, and the energy support provided to Ukraine. The President of Romania emphasized that the energy interconnection of the countries in the region is essential, especially in the context of war.

The leader from Cotroceni further stated that Ukraine is fighting “a battle for Europe”. “We thank you and the Ukrainian people for the fight you are leading, a battle for Europe and for Romania,” said the President of Romania.

Meteorologists have issued a yellow heatwave warning for this weekend. In most parts of the country, the maximum temperatures will reach +34 degrees Celsius, reports IPN.

The warning is valid for the center, south, and east of the country. Several districts in the north are also under the yellow code. The northernmost districts of the country such as Briceni, Ocnita, Edinet, Drochia, Soroca, Glodeni, Rascani, and Donduseni – are not affected by the warning.

According to the Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring, the warning can be updated depending on the evolution of weather phenomena.

During periods of heatwave, authorities recommend people to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours, to consume enough fluids, and to pay increased attention to children, the elderly, and people with chronic conditions.
