The Russian Federation’s Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Ozerov, summoned today to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has rejected accusations that the drone which illegally flew over the airspace of the Republic of Moldova on the night of November 19th was of Russian origin. The diplomat stated that there is no evidence to suggest that the device belongs to the Russian Federation, reports IPN.
“We wonder why the Russian ambassador was invited and not the Ukrainian one, since the drone came from Ukrainian territory. There is no evidence that the drone was Russian, let alone that it was intentional”, Oleg Ozerov stated to the press, upon leaving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The diplomat further emphasized that “Ukrainian drones have flown over the territories of other states more than once” and urged the Moldovan authorities to “avoid involving international players in their positions”.
Following the summons, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a press release that the Russian diplomat was handed a firm protest from the Moldovan authorities regarding the violation of national sovereignty and the risks generated for the security of citizens.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reiterated its appeal to the Russian Federation to avoid any actions that could endanger the security of the Republic of Moldova and to fully respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
The Ministry of Defense reported that on the night of November 19, a drone illegally flew over the Republic of Moldova between 3:22 and 3:35 AM. The aircraft entered from the direction of Lesnaia, Ukraine, and moved towards Saiti, Stefan Voda district, at an altitude of approximately 100 meters.
