After piles of garbage were deposited around the collection platforms for days on end, the City Hall of Balti announced on Tuesday that it has signed a contract for waste evacuation with the municipal enterprise “Territory Planning and Green Spaces”. The expenses will be recovered in court from the “Road Repair and Construction Directorate”, which allegedly did not fulfill its obligations stipulated in an agreement concluded with the municipality in 2019, reports IPN.
Mayor Alexandr Petcov accused the management of the “Road Repair and Construction Directorate” of intentionally causing this situation, in an attempt to obtain an increase in the waste disposal fee. The municipality granted the company a deadline until October 20 to evacuate the stored waste and clean the collection platforms, but the work was not carried out.
“The lake is not a testing ground for incompetent administrators,” stated the mayor, specifying that the municipality will appeal to the court to request the company to cover the damage caused by non-compliance with the signed contract.
