Moldovan athletes have returned victorious from the European Championship of small countries in taekwondo, held in Riga from October 1-3. The national team returned from Latvia with a total of seven medals, reports IPN.

According to the National Olympic and Sports Committee, in the senior category, Artiom Rosca stood out, who won the gold medal at 54 kg, and Ana Spînu, who conquered the bronze at 62 kg.

In the juniors, Ariana Spinei climbed to the second step of the podium, winning the silver medal in the 59 kg category, while Anastasia Chislari and Ivan Marcenco won bronze medals in the 68 kg and 73 kg categories, respectively.

Two more silver medals were brought by the cadets Nikita Rusu (57 kg) and Mihail Anghel (61 kg).

Athletes from 21 countries participated in the competition. On Saturday, in Riga, an international tournament of the G1 category is scheduled.

A 29-year-old young man lost his life after the car he was driving went off the road and overturned on a plot of land near the M1 national road, in the Hancesti district. According to preliminary information, as a result of the impact, he was thrown from the car and died on the spot, reports IPN.
