Japanese Govt. donates equipment to Mechanized Agriculture Center

The Japanese government donated high-performance equipment to the National Mechanized Agriculture Center, on Friday, March 13. The donation consisted from washing, selecting, harvesting, testing, packaging, repairing equipment, combines and tractors, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Mechanized Agriculture Center was put in commission in March, 2007, from funds granted within the 2KR project, financed by Japan. The Moldovan side also asked Japan for assistance in endowing the center with training equipment for practice lessons indoors and on the field. The Japanese Government decided to grant $4.7 million for the project, as an agreement in this respect was inked in November 2007. The grant was used to purchase and install the equipment necessary for the center in Chisinau and for four subsidiaries in Moldovan areas: Larga, Iablona, Hartopul Mare and Ceadar-Lunga. Japan has been offering grants to Moldova to enhance agricultural production since 2000, within the Project on technical assistance for farmers (2KR). 3,600 units of agricultural equipment for Moldovan farmers have been purchased with the money offered by the Japanese Government, or gained from running the 2KR project.
