The National Army marks 35 years since its founding. The day began with military activities across the country and with flower laying at the monument of Stephen the Great in the center of the capital and at the “Sorrowful Mother” within the “Eternity” Memorial Complex, reports IPN.

The Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatii, sent a message to the military and civilian employees, thanking those who contributed to the formation and development of the National Army. He mentioned that this year’s anniversary is held under the slogan “For 35 years we have been an army”.

“It is more than just a slogan, it is about the people inside the institution, women and men who are on duty, at home and abroad, fulfilling each mission with passion and dedication,” conveyed Anatolie Nosatii.

The Minister mentioned that the National Army is today a modern and appreciated institution. At the same time, he emphasized that the mission of the institution remains the protection of peace and support of citizens when needed.

Congratulations messages have also come from other institutions. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has sent congratulations to the military, veterans, and their families, emphasizing their contribution to the security of the country and its citizens. The Border Police highlighted the cooperation between the two institutions and the role of the military in state security. The National Administration of Penitentiaries congratulated the military and the employees of the National Army, mentioning their dedication, discipline, and responsibility.

On the occasion of the anniversary, the Ministry of Defense is organizing on Saturday, September 5, a program of activities in “Alunelul” Park in the Buiucani sector. The event will start at 10:00 AM and will include a concert performed by the Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Moldova and special guests, interactive activities and exhibitions of military equipment and technology. Participants will be able to try the special forces zip line and military shooting, and the program will conclude with the traditional soldier’s lunch.

Moscow airports closed, amid warnings issued by Volodimir Zelenski

Moscow’s airports were closed for the second night in a row, amid warnings from Ukrainian President, Volodimir Zelenski, regarding the lack of safety in Russian airspace. Several flights were delayed or cancelled, and the largest private airline company in Turkey, Pegasus, turned back several planes heading to Moscow and cancelled dozens of flights to other cities in Russia, reports IPN.

The Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviation, announced that temporary restrictions have been introduced at the Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo airports. According to the online flight tracking platform Flightradar24, at Sheremetyevo 21 flights were cancelled and 235 were delayed, while at Vnukovo there were 22 cancellations and 94 delayed flights.

On the other hand, Wednesday, September 2, the Pegasus company canceled dozens of flights from Istanbul to Moscow and Saint Petersburg, as well as from Antalya, Izmir and Dalaman to several cities in Russia, including the return flights.

A representative of the airline company announced that departures from Turkey have been suspended, without providing further details. At the company’s ticket offices in Russia, passengers were informed that it is unknown whether the planes will continue to fly to Moscow.

Volodymyr Zelensky recently warned airlines and insurers that Ukraine will intensify drone attacks on Russia, in response to Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure. The Ukrainian leader clarified that civilian aircraft will not be directly targeted.

At the same time, Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andri Sibiha, announced that Kiev has officially notified the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) about the risks in Russian airspace. Moreover, in a letter sent to ICAO and quoted by Reuters, the Ukrainian Minister of Reconstruction, Infrastructure and Transport, Mikola Kalashnik, is calling for a ban on civil flights through Russian airspace.
