The government is taking measures to ensure the diesel market, following signals regarding the lack of fuel at some PECO stations. The executive’s spokesperson, Dumitru Ciorici, stated that in the last 24 hours, two barges loaded with approximately 6 thousand tons of diesel have entered the country, and a new shipment of similar capacity is expected today. The explanations were given after the Farmers’ Force Association mentioned that farmers from several districts are facing a severe diesel deficit, in the midst of the agricultural campaign, reports IPN.

According to the authorities, the additional volumes are expected to contribute to reducing the existing deficit at some fuel supply stations.

“The government continues to closely monitor the situation and will adopt, if necessary, additional measures to ensure the stable supply of fuel to the country”, Dumitru Ciorici communicated.

The data presented by the Government shows that, on July 27, 53 out of a total of 590 PECO stations did not have diesel stocks, which represents less than 10% of the total number of stations. Of these, 38 are part of the Lukoil network.

The authorities explain the current deficit through several factors, including the drop in the Danube level, which has affected river transport, as well as the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, which has caused disruptions in the international fuel supply chains.

The Farmers’ Force Association warned on Monday morning that in addition to the increase in fuel prices, farmers are facing a shortage of diesel, which is why they have requested urgent intervention from the authorities. Representatives of the association say they have received reports from several districts of the country, according to which some oil companies have been without diesel for several days and cannot estimate when they will resume deliveries.
