PDM invites PSRM to discussions

The Democratic Party on May 31 invited the Party of Socialists to discussions to see if a parliamentary cooperation formula based on the expectations and priorities of the people can be identified. The announcement was made by the PDM’s spokesman Vitalie Gamurari in a press briefing after the meeting of the party’s Standing Bureau, IPN reports.

“If we reach the necessary consensus, we could swiftly move to the political formalization of this solution, if both of the sides show flexibility sand wish to achieve the consensus that would satisfy the priority needs of the people. In the discussions, we will debate the proposals that were already made public by the Party of Socialists, concerning the formation of a parliamentary majority and of the Government. Some of these are implementable, including the voting of a Speaker representing the group of the PSRM. The government proposals of the Democratic Party are also to be discussed,” stated Vitalie Gamurari, reading the party’s statement.

According to him, in the meeting they analyzed the steps taken by the parliamentary parties so far and reached the conclusion that there is a complete stalemate as regards the formation of a parliamentary majority, caused by the real differences in views between the parties and the wish of some of the politicians to hold particular posts at any cost or to take over particular institutions, like the two parties of the former electoral bloc ACUM.

“We waited until close to the time limit by which the new government can be formed so that the parliamentary parties show maturity and realize that the people expect stability, not political conflicts, solutions to their problems, not struggles to take over institutions, better living conditions, not worse conditions by leading the country to crisis and instability. In this period after the elections, the Democratic Party’s team worked on a new government program based on the social needs of the people and we are ready to implement it together with the MPs who want to really work for the country,” stated Gamurari.

The Party of Socialists announced they took notice of the Democratic Party’s invitation and will present it to the party’s National Council for consideration.
