Parenting platform edu-api.md launched

The Academy of Lucky Parents (Academia Părinților de Invidiat) is launching a parenting online platform, edu-api.md, destined for both parents and education specialists.

Mihai Nani, a sociologist specializing in childhood studies, says that education and parenting models that existed in the past are not valid anymore. Many parents have lost connection with their children, who choose to seek educate themselves through the internet or through video games, which generates risks of deviant behavior, violence, and alcohol and substance abuse.

The first course uploaded on edu-api.md is called “The basics of a positive education”. The 68-lesson course can be purchase at the standard price of 2,910 lei or at the promotional price of 1,000 lei until Wednesday. The course addresses the most frequent issues faced by parents when educating their children and is structured into brief, easy-to-understand lessons that also come with downloadable self-evaluation files.

“These courses have been designed so that they can be easily processed, without carrying a big load of theory. The courses offer clear guidance as to how parents should act in specific situations in the process of educating their children. The platform also allows the user to get in touch with the trainer at every lesson, via a link to the trainer’s Facebook page or email, where the parent can ask questions”, explained Mihai Nani.

Psychotherapist Ina Crasnojon, who specializes in child assistance, said parents need to raise their children so they have a healthy psycho-emotional development. Many parents educate their children from the perspective of a beautiful environment, out of touch with reality. As a result, these children will have difficulty integrating into society. Ina Crasnojon argues that these courses have been developed in order for parents to know how to deal with the new challenges that exist in society, such as the addictions that technology is causing. Modern communication technologies involve the risk of child abuse by pedophiles or other bad people. Young people also face the risks of substance and alcohol abuse and risks of sexual nature.

Olimpia Gherman, a trainer on emergency aid to children, said that these courses introduce a new concept, namely health education. Parents are informed about the healthy development of the child and are trained how to recognize certain deviations and how to act in emergency situations. Olimpia Gherman noted that 7% of children up to one year of age are poisoned or suffer various traumas due to domestic accidents, and from the age of one to 14 years the percentage of the traumatized increases to 50 %. The doctor claims that these figures may be lower if parents know the potential danger situations and intervene timely to prevent them.

Gagauzia must participate in the formation of the regional electoral body by nominating candidates, and the Central Electoral Commission should examine and approve these nominations, asserts the President of the Gagauz People’s Assembly, Valentin Gaidarji. In the case of substantiated objections, the CEC would have to request the nomination of other candidates, reports IPN.

According to Gaidarji, this mechanism would represent a compromise between Chisinau and Comrat and would ensure a balance between the interests of the state and the region. “It is precisely this mechanism, in our belief, that needs to be stipulated in the Law on the special status of Gagauzia,” stated the APG president at an event held in Comrat.

He mentioned that the members of the regional electoral body must be professionals, know the Gagauz language, live in the region, and be familiar with the regional legislation and the specifics of autonomy.

Referring to the electoral system for the election of the People’s Assembly, Valentin Gaidarji said that the principal position of the APG is to maintain the majority system, on the basis of which deputies are elected in single-member constituencies.

The position comes in the context where the Presidency has announced that, in discussions with deputies from Comrat, the conduct of elections for APG based on the proportional electoral system was addressed, as part of a uniform electoral system throughout the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
