In July, on the country’s territory, 54 explosive objects and 104 cartridges were detected and neutralized. The National Army’s engineering teams intervened in nine demining missions. The ammunition originated from the period of the Second World War and was safely destroyed, reports IPN.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the most extensive mission was carried out near the village of Rascaieti, in the Stefan Voda district. As a result of the terrain investigation, specialists identified 34 explosive objects and nearly 50 cartridges. Among these are an artillery shell, several hand grenades, and launcher bombs, as well as fuses for heavy ammunition.
Throughout the month of July, the military intervened in the city of Chisinau, as well as in the districts of Anenii Noi, Causeni, Stefan Voda, Hancesti, Ungheni, Edinet and Calarasi. All interventions targeted unexploded ammunition left in the ground from the time of the Second World War.
Since the beginning of the year up to now, the National Army has carried out 88 demining missions, during which 425 explosive objects and 224 cartridges have been destroyed.
The sappers urge the public not to touch suspicious objects found in the ground or on the surface and to call the emergency number 112.
