It has been 95 years since the birth of the late writer Vladimir Besleaga. To mark the occasion, the National Museum of Romanian Literature has opened an exhibition dedicated to the author’s life and work, featuring books, photographs, manuscripts, and literary documents, including previously unpublished materials donated by the writer to the museum during the final years of his life, according to IPN.
As part of the commemorative exhibition “The Man of Light: Vladimir Besleaga, 95 Years Since His Birth,” the public has access to a significant portion of the author’s personal archive and to accounts of his literary work.
The opening also featured the presentation of the book “Batranii din casuta cat nuca” by Vladimir Besleaga, published in 2026 by Epigraf Publishing House in Chisinau. The event was attended by writers, literary scholars, journalists, publishers, museum curators, family members, and admirers of his work.
Vladimir Besleaga was born on July 25, 1931, in the village of Malaiesti, Grigoriopol District, and passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 93. His novel “Zbor frant” (“Broken Flight”), published in 1966, is considered one of the most important works of postwar prose in the Republic of Moldova.
