The mutual recognition of driving licenses between the Republic of Moldova and the United Kingdom is being finalized, according to the Chisinau authorities. The subject was discussed today during a meeting between President Maia Sandu and two British MPs on a working visit to Chisinau. The Head of State expressed the hope that the British Parliament will soon ratify a bilateral agreement in this regard, which would facilitate the mobility and integration of Moldovan citizens settled in the UK, IPN reports.
Discussions with Anneliese Dodds, member of the Labour Party, and John Whittingdale, member of the Conservative Party, focused on strengthening bilateral relations and continued support for Moldova in several areas. President Maia Sandu also underlined the contribution of the Moldovan community in the United Kingdom, which actively participates in the economic development of both countries.
Another topic discussed was the recent liberalization of Moldovan exports to the UK, in particular the elimination of customs duties on agricultural products such as apples, plums and grapes. The move gives local producers wider access to the UK market and supports the national economy. In the context of regional security, the President thanked the UK for its support to Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, noting that Ukrainian resistance is directly contributing to peace and stability in Moldova. Officials reconfirmed their shared commitment to a secure and peaceful Europe.
