The International Organization for Economic Development supports Moldova in the European integration process and will continue to support it after the November 30 elections, no matter who comes to power after them, the organization’s ambassador Fiodor Ghelici said in a news conference at IPN.
Fiodor Ghelici stated that the organization he represents in Moldova was created under the aegis of the UN to help the developing countries economically, socially and humanitarianly.
“If Moldova chose to develop by covering the road to the EU, we support the country with all our forces. If another choice is made after the elections, we will continue to support the country. We will not become involved politically. We only want to implement social and economic projects that will improve the people’s living conditions,” said Fiodor Ghelici.
In another development, the activist leveled criticism at the government, accusing it of ignoring the project proposals he submitted, including as ambassador of the International Organization for Economic Development. “We have a project to build social homes for orphan young people who leave the institutions where they grew and have no place to stay and work. We also want to start to build rest homes for elderly people. We have projects aimed at improving the work conditions of doctors. To implement them, we need the government’s consent,” he stated.
Fiodor Ghelici noted that he cannot understand why the government rejects the assistance of an international organization that is ready to implement social projects. “It is paradoxical, but the United States, which is a world power and a rich country, has agreements with this organization and accepts its assistance in implementing projects. Moldova, which is the poorest country in Europe, rejects the offered support,” said the ambassador.
According to Feodor Ghelici, the International Organization for Economic Development will further present project proposals and will make effort to convince the authorities to consent to their implementation.
