The money necessary to confer the State Award and to insure the work of the Prize Awarding National Council will be run by the Government’s Apparatus. A modification in this respect as to the respective Governmental Decision has been published in the last edition of Monitorul Oficial, Info-Prim Neo reports.

The regulation on the State Award stipulates it is conferred to Moldovan citizens for remarkable achievements with huge impact on the development of the technical-scietific and social-economic progress, on the national and world cultures.

To get the State Award, one can propose people whose scientific researches, production or creativity works were published, made known or applied in practice till the date of starting the respective contest. The works having got similar distinctions were not accepted for the State Award.

Putting up the works for the award is done by ministries, scientific councils, councils of creation unions and university senates.

The candidates for the State Award are elected by secret vote.

The State Award consists of a diploma, an honor badge, a certificate of Laureate of the State Award and money. If the work forwarded to be awarded has been carried by a team of no more than ten persons, all are given the award, as the amount of money is shared.

The regulations states that the State Award can also be conferred post-mortem. The diploma and the money are rendered to heirs, or, if they lack, to the institution having forwarded the work, as the fee is returned into the state budget.

Authorities urge the population to reduce energy consumption during peak hours

Citizens are urged to use electricity responsibly and, as much as possible, to avoid using high-consumption appliances between the hours of 06:00 PM and 11:00 PM. The authorities’ recommendation comes in the context of pressures on the regional energy market, generated by the decline in electricity production in Romania, reports IPN.

SA Energocom specifies that the electricity needs of the Republic of Moldova are fully covered. However, during peak consumption hours, it may be necessary to purchase additional quantities from regional markets, where energy is, as a rule, more expensive.

In Romania, an energy alert has been instituted for 30 days, due to the reduction of electric power production, caused by the low flow of the Danube. Romanian authorities warn that the situation puts pressure on regional markets, may increase the need for imports, and can generate price fluctuations.

According to Energocom, 9,523 MWh of electrical energy were contracted for August 1st. Out of this volume, 33.05% comes from local and eligible renewable sources, 51.68% from bilateral import contracts, 13.85% from the Day-Ahead Market in Romania, through OPCOM and BRM, and 1.42% is produced by thermal power plants.

To alleviate pressure on the system and peak-time acquisition costs, consumers are encouraged to use washing machines, clothes dryers, electric boilers, and other appliances during the day, when energy consumption is lower.

The Diaspora Days 2026 begin on Monday, August 3, and will take place throughout August under the theme “Wherever we are, Moldova unites us!”. The program includes events for young people, professionals, leaders of diaspora associations, and citizens interested in getting involved in the country’s development, reports IPN.

The activities are organized by the Diaspora Relations Office within the State Chancellery, and some of these will take place in a hybrid format, to facilitate the participation of Moldovans settled abroad.

The first activity on the schedule is the inauguration of the exhibition “Bessarabian Authors in the World”, on August 3, at the National Library of the Republic of Moldova. On August 4, at the Government House, the event “Youth Talk: Young People Change the World” will take place, and on August 7, at the Palace of the Republic, the Diaspora Forum is scheduled – the central event of this year’s edition.

The Diaspora Forum will bring together citizens of the Republic of Moldova settled abroad, representatives of public authorities, development partners and leaders of diaspora communities. The discussions will focus on the involvement of the diaspora in the European integration process, strengthening communities outside the country and developing partnerships with their places of origin.

The program will continue on August 15 with the Diaspora Cup, organized at Dinamo Stadium. As part of the Diaspora Days, art and heritage exhibitions will also be organized, along with a fair of folk craftsmen and informational stands of public institutions and development partners.
