Mariana Leahu, interim deputy of the chief prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, has been recommended for promotion following an ethical and financial integrity evaluation, according to the Evaluation Commission’s report. The final decision is to be made by the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP), reports IPN.
As part of the external evaluation, the Commission analyzed the collected information, the process also including a public hearing, in which Mariana Leahu had the opportunity to respond to the addressed questions. Following this stage, the Commission proposed to the Superior Council of Magistracy the promotion in evaluation of the interim deputy from the Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office.
The Superior Council of Prosecutors has 30 days at its disposal to examine the report and decide whether to accept or reject the recommendation.
Mariana Leahu has been working within the Prosecutor’s Office since 2007, beginning her career at the Prosecutor’s Office of the Buiucani sector in Chisinau, where she was responsible for leading criminal investigations and representing the state prosecution in the courts of first instance. In 2016, she was transferred to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, and in 2017 she was assigned to the judicial department, managing high-profile cases, including those from the “Bank Fraud” file. In November 2024, she was appointed as the deputy chief prosecutor, with an interim status — a condition applicable to the deputies of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, during the vetting process.
