Heavy rains expected

Meteorologists forecast heavy rains today and tomorrow. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, State Weather Service head Ilie Boian said the rains will be accompanied by strong winds a whirlwinds.

Higher amounts of rainfall are expected in northern Moldova and showers in the rest of the country. Meteorologists warn that the recent torrid temperatures created ideal conditions for very strong rains.

Meanwhile, the orange-coded heat advisory remains in effect, with highs forecasted around 35 and 38 degrees Celsius.

Almost a month after the Ministry of Health announced the closure of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of the Ștefan Vodă District Hospital, citing a reduced number of births, the institution has suspended the order to cease operations. Thus, in the next two months, the hospital’s capacity will be reassessed, and births will continue to be directed to the Causeni District Hospital. Emergencies and gynecological conditions will be treated at Stefan Voda, reports IPN.

The Ministry of Health specifies that, during the reassessment period, the available human resources, on-call lines, operating block capacity, anesthesia and intensive care services, neonatology and the institution’s equipment will be analyzed.

In the case of patients with obstetric emergencies who will present themselves at the Stefan Voda District Hospital, the doctors will provide the necessary assistance for stabilization, after which they will be safely transferred to the Causeni District Hospital.

Authorities maintain that the decision to suspend the order was taken after consulting the concerns expressed by the district residents, local authorities and medical staff. A final decision on the department’s activity will be taken after the completion of the reassessment, depending on its results and the medical safety criteria.
