There are no imminent risks to the population related to an eventual exposure to ionizing radiation. The radioactive levels are typical for the country’s territory, the Environment Agency said in connection with the recent attacks on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine, which increased concerns about a possible nuclear disaster, IPN reports.
The Environment Agency daily monitors the equivalent of the ambient dose equivalent for the external gamma–ray exposure recorded at seven stations with manual monitoring (Soroca, Fălești, Cornești, Bravicea, Comrat, Leova, Bălțata), with the assistance of portable dosimeter UltraRadiac and DRG, and by five stations with automated continuous monitoring (Ștefan-Vodă, Bălți, Chișinău, Briceni and Cahul).
