As from July 9, the access to closed public places in Cyprus is possible only on the presentation of a PCR test or rapid test (rapid test is available free at testing centers proposed by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus), confirmation of recovery (serological test) or confirmation of vaccination, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova has said.

The announcement was made in the context of the July 11 snap parliamentary elections in which the Moldovans in Cyprus can vote by going to polling station No. 38/13 located at 11 Amerikanas St in Limassol (“Miramare” Hotel).

Moldova’s Embassy in Greece, which also covers Cyrus, calls on the citizens eligible to vote to come to the poling station with a document of the aforementioned, as the authorities of Cyprus require.

In order to ensure an appropriate electoral process, the test can be taken inside the free testing center situated at 4060, 11 Stymfalidon St Limassol (“Atlantica Oasis” Hotel, which housed the polling station on 01.11.2020/14.11.2020), which is six minutes walk away from polling station No. 38/13.

Over 500 medical units in Romania went on general strike on Tuesday. The institutions are only providing emergency services, and some interventions for chronic patients are being postponed. The protest was initiated by the Sanitas trade union federation, dissatisfied with the provisions of the new wage law, reports IPN.

The Vice President of Sanitas, Razvan Gae, stated that the activity of medical units is reduced, but the services necessary for saving patients’ lives are maintained. Among the unionists’ demands are the maintenance of wage bonuses, the unlocking of hiring, and addressing the staff shortage, especially in emergency and intensive care departments.

The unionists are set to discuss with the representatives of the Ministry of Health so that their demands can be supported in Parliament.

In the meantime, the interim Minister of Health, Attila Cseke, has announced proposals to amend the salary law project, including increasing the emergency duty allowance from 20% to 30%, introducing a pilot salary program based on performance criteria, and reviewing some allowances and salary coefficients.

At the same time, Attila Cseke pointed out that the Ministry of Health has initiated a memorandum to unlock over 7,800 positions in the healthcare system, as a measure to reduce the staff deficit.

The Sanitas Federation is set to decide whether to continue the protest or suspend it, depending on the outcome of discussions with the authorities.

The price of standard diesel reaches 31 lei per liter. The National Agency for Energy Regulation announced a Wednesday increase of 29 bani in the maximum selling price, reports IPN.

At the same time, gasoline with an octane rating of 95 will increase in price by 14 bani and will be sold at the pump at a price of no more than 30.54 lei per liter.

The government has instituted a state of alert in the energy sector for 30 days, due to the risk of a fuel deficit. The authorities specify that the situation is also influenced by the volatility of the oil market, determined by the tensions in the Middle East and the transportation issues through the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz. In addition, the cessation of oil deliveries from Kazakhstan to the Black Sea affects the supply of the Petromidia refinery in Romania, the main fuel supplier for the Republic of Moldova.
