Moldova’s delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) said a Transnistrian border guards post was established near Pohrebea village instead of the militia post. Even if both the delegation of Transnistria and that of the Russian Federation agreed that the subject should be discussed, they refused to include the problem in the agenda of the May 23 meeting of the JCC, said Moldova’s delegation.

The leader of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) Iurie Leancă, who runs in the European Parliament elections on behalf of the “Pro Romania” Party, said that if he is elected MEP, he will insist that the EU should not ignore the democratic backsliding in Moldova if such is witnessed and will plead for the EU’s greater involvement in everything Moldova means in the European Union. “Besides what I will do for Romania, an important part of my mandate will be devoted to the re-inclusion of the Republic of Moldova in the European Union’s agenda by generating support for what the European perspective of Moldova means, by trying to change the current regulations of the European Union and by offering access to the EU pre-accession funds,” stated the politician.
The post of Parliament Speaker would be a guarantee for the Socialists because the President of Moldova Igor Dodon was suspended for five times during the past two years and a half. When the President is suspended, the Speaker acts as the Head of State on an interim basis. The Bloc ACUM will be responsible for snap elections, if these take place. However, until the National Council of the Party of Socialists didn’t take another decision, there is one more chance of breaking the deadlock, stated President Dodon.
“We do not want snap elections, but if these take place, we will go to the voters to explain to them how things stand, who formed an alliance with the intention of paralyzing the Parliament’s work, who didn’t want to work,” stated the co-president of the Bloc ACUM Andrei Năstase. He wondered why the Democratic Party and the Party of Socialists do not assume governance if they publicly say that the Bloc ACUM is to blame for the created situation.
