The Better Learning Program has expanded to four other educational institutions in Chisinau. These are the high schools “Antioh Cantemir”, “Gloria”, “Matei Basarab” and “Dacia”, IPN reports.

Valentin Crudu, head of the Institutional Management Unit of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport of Chisinau, said that in the context of the humanitarian crisis, overcoming stress factors in the educational institution is a challenge that must be dealt with so as to ensure the wellbeing of the student and teacher. The training courses attended by teachers of the aforementioned institutions aim to contribute to their wellbeing. Subsequently, the support network will expand and ensure a favorable psycho-emotional climate for education employees, students and their families.

Maher Daboul, education specialist at the Norwegian Refugee Council, said the training comes to support teachers with diverse skills to enhance their capacity to promote the recovery and wellbeing of their students, which will help create a more inclusive classroom climate.

Daniela Mămăligă, director of the Public Association “Partnerships for Every Child”, said that the results achieved since the launch of the program in Moldova showed that it is necessary and useful for professionals in the education system to manage and facilitate the inclusion in the school environment of children in crisis situations, including refugee children, to improve their wellbeing.

The Better Learning Program, a psychosocial support program that can be integrated into education programs in crisis contexts, including humanitarian, was launched in the Republic of Moldova in 2022, by staging a number of nationwide training courses and seminars, trainer teaching courses. Since May 2022, the program has been implemented in 20 schools in Balti, Cahul and Chisinau, with the involvement of 328 teachers and managers and 5,269 students.
